![]() ![]() Author: Wieck Schumann Clara; Brahms Johannes; Fumero A. (cur.) € 25,00

![]() ![]() Author: Brahms Johannes (COP), Walters Richard (EDT) Publisher: Hal Leonard Corp with CDs of diction lessons and piano accompaniments; includes historical notes, translations and International Phonetic Alphabet With diction lessons recorded by Irene Spiegelman, German diction coach at the Metropolitan Opera, and piano accompaniments recorded by Laura Ward, this collection of the most often taught Brahms songs is an excellent introduction to lieder. The diction for each song is recorded twice: first recited as an actor would speak it, showing flow of the language and mood, followed by a slow, deliberate lesson, allowing time for the student to repeat each line. This experienced language coach adapts the "R" in German in the slow versions as recommended for classical singers. She is also very sensitive to liaisons between word sounds in the musical settings. Contents: Botschaft * Dein blaues Auge * Die Mainacht * Feldeinsamkeit * Immer leiser wird mein Schlummer * Meine Liebe ist grun * Mondnacht * O liebliche Wangen * O wusst ich doch den Weg zuruck * Sapphische Ode * Sonntag * Standchen (Kugler) * Vergebliches Standchen * Von ewiger Liebe * Wie Melodien zieht es mir. 00001141 High Voice, Book/CDs $17.95 00001142 Low Voice, Book/CDs $17.95 € 22,90

![]() ![]() Author: Brahms Johannes; Focher A. (cur.) € 16,00

![]() ![]() Author: Brahms Johannes (COM), Krebs Carl (EDT), Eisenberger Agnes (TRN), Brahms Johannes (EDT) Publisher: Pendragon Pr When Brahms was about twenty years old, he began to copy into the notebook he always carried, long or short passages he had read and wished to keep. This practice belongs to an old tradition followed by Erasmus, Ben Jonson, and John Milton, to mention but three examples. Four of Brahms' notebooks have been preserved. In 1909, twelve years after the composer's death, the German music critic, author, and scholar Carl Krebs collected and published these notebooks in one small, handsome volume. The limited edition was soon exhausted and the collection was never reprinted. Krebs was aided in writing his informative Preface by the author Max Kalbeck, the first volume of whose monumental biography of Brahms had appeared in 1903. Kalbeck calls attention to these notebooks, convinced that they offer the key to Brahms' innermost being. The present volume, translated and introduced by Agnes Eisenberger, provides the original German with its English equivalent on facing pages. The annotations and descriptions of the various authors are by Siegmund Levarie. € 42,60
