'From ancient Egypt to imperial Rome, illustrations of stories were used to decorate domestic and public spaces ... And then came pictorial tapestries of silk and wool, which were hung in palaces in northern Europe, but also in Italy. These tapestries expressed the wealth and luxury of the Flemish Renaissance ... One of the great theaters of these conflicts was the Battle of Pavia, which entered into political legend and military history thanks to the use of the newest technical inventions of the time, thereby transforming the art of warfare'. E poi vennero gli arazzi in seta e lana, appesi nei saloni dei palazzi, nel Nord Europa ma anche in Italia. Arazzi che esprimevano la ricchezza e il lusso del Rinascimento fiammingo. Uno dei grandi teatri di queste battaglie fu la Battaglia di Pavia, divenuta una leggenda politica ed entrata nella storia militare, grazie all'utilizzo delle più recenti invenzioni tecniche del tempo, che hanno trasformato l'arte della guerra'(Eike Schmidt). 'Il fumetto è radicato nell'immagine cinematografica, nella sequenza, ed è per ciò che questo linguaggio è così perfetto per la serie di arazzi nota come Arazzi d'Avalos, che racconta per immagini le sequenze di uno degli eventi militari e politici più importanti d'Europa: la Battaglia di Pavia, in cui si scontrarono i due più grandi re dell'epoca, Carlo V e Francesco I' (Sylvain Bellenger).
