![]() ![]() Author: Smith Albert Publisher: Priuli & Verlucca Questo gioco da tavolo - The New Game of the Ascent of Mont Blancriproduce la prima di quattro edizioni pubblicate nell'arco di circa vent'anni. € 9,90

![]() ![]() Author: Smith Albert C., Smith Kendra Schank Publisher: Routledge Developing Your Design Process is your primary source for acquiring knowledge of how and why you design. It will help you understand how architects think as well as learn why you should educate yourself about design culture. You'll also be introduced to the language of design, architectural terminology, historic precedents, and designers, in addition to the why, what, and how of the design process. ![]() ![]() Author: Sarrazin Albertine, Southgate Patsy (TRN), Smith Patti (INT) Publisher: New Directions As if the reader were riding shotgun, this intensely vivid novel captures a life on the lam. “L’astragale” is the French word for the ankle bone Albertine Sarrazin’s heroine Anne breaks as she leaps from her jail cell to freedom. As she drags herself down the road, away from the prison walls, she is rescued by Julien, himself a small-time criminal, who keeps her hidden. They fall in love. Fear of capture, memories of her prison cell, claustrophobia in her hideaways: every detail is fiercely felt. Astragal burst onto the French literary scene in 1965; its fiery and vivacious style was entirely new, and Sarrazin became a celebrity overnight. But as fate would have it, Sarrazin herself kept running into trouble with the law, even as she became a star. She died from a botched surgery at the height of her fame. Sarrazin’s life and work (her novels are semi-autobiographical) have been the subject of intense fascination in France; a new adaptation of Astragal is currently being filmed. Patti Smith, who brought Astragal to the attention of New Directions, contributes an enthusiastic introduction to one of her favorite writers. € 14,80

![]() ![]() Author: Guillevic Eugene, Smith Maureen (TRN), Guillevic Lucie Albertini (TRN) Publisher: Black Widow Pr Art Poetique by Guillevic is a highly personal account of the process and experience of writing poetry. It was published in Paris in 1989, when, at the age of eighty-two, the poet had behind him a lifetime of reading and writing. One of its distinctive features is its extremely modest tone. It is not a doctrine or a series of rules about what poetry is or should be, but the sharing of that profound experience, the personal research of a poet, his hesitations and doubts: 'Do I see / What I see? / Do I hear / What I hear? Perhaps I see / What I hear, Perhaps I hear / What I see: Perhaps nothing / Of all that, / A wisp of sounds, / Colours, forms.' This fully bilingual anthology, the second volume of poetry by Guillevic to be published by Black Widow Press, is the first translation into English of this work in its entirety. We hope it will help English language readers to further come to know a remarkable poet who is held in great esteem around the world. Guillevic (1907-1997) is widely recognized as one of the most important French poets of the latter half of the twentieth century. Over thirty volumes of his poems have been published to date. He has been translated into fifty languages and his works are available in some sixty countries. His poetry has inspired countless songs and musical compositions, and over 145 limited edition volumes of his poetry have been illustrated by some of the most renowned artists: Leger, Dubuffet, Cortot, Manessier, and Baltazar among others. Annual symposiums, papers, and books continue to be written on both the poet and his works throughout the world. € 19,60

![]() ![]() Author: Wasson R. Gordon, Hofmann Albert, Ruck Carl A. P., Smith Huston (FRW), Webster Peter (AFT) Publisher: North Atlantic Books The secretive Mysteries conducted at Eleusis in Greece for nearly two millennia have long puzzled scholars with strange accounts of initiates experiencing otherworldly journeys. In this groundbreaking work, three experts—a mycologist, a chemist, and a historian—argue persuasively that the sacred potion given to participants in the course of the ritual contained a psychoactive entheogen. The authors then expand the discussion to show that natural psychedelic agents have been used in spiritual rituals across history and cultures. Although controversial when first published in 1978, the book’s hypothesis has become more widely accepted in recent years, as knowledge of ethnobotany has deepened. The authors have played critical roles in the modern rediscovery of entheogens, and The Road to Eleusis presents an authoritative exposition of their views. The book’s themes of the universality of experiential religion, the suppression of that knowledge by exploitative forces, and the use of psychedelics to reconcile the human and natural worlds make it a fascinating and timely read. This 30th anniversary edition includes an appreciative preface by religious scholar Huston Smith and an updated exploration of the chemical evidence by Peter Webster. € 17,00

![]() ![]() Author: Sahuquillo Angel, Frouman-Smith Erica (TRN), Mira Alberto (FRW) Publisher: McFarland & Co Inc Pub Spain in the twentieth century gave birth to an array of astounding artistic and literary talent, including the passionately iconoclastic writer Federico García Lorca. But his works were ill received in the homophobic atmosphere of institutionalized Spanish criticism. Because of this atmosphere, even today's critics have effectively marginalized and disavowed intimations of homo-affectivity and homoeroticism in the great Spanish works. This book first appeared in Spain in 1991 as counter-discourse against those prevailing ideological structures. Before its appearance, no significant work had focused on the position of Spanish culture towards homosexuality or on how homosexuality could affect the works of canonical writers. Engaging with homosexuality as an imperative source of meaning in artistic work, this volume rigorously studies the works of Federico García Lorca and several of his marginalized homosexual contemporaries, including Emilio Prados, Luis Cernuda, Juan Gil-Albert, and Salvador Dalí. The study relies on the textual evidence presented by these authors to define the homosexual culture as one plagued by the realities of rejection, fear of the law, self-doubts, the lack of an authorized language with which to convey emotions, the awareness of disgust around the individual, the need to accept marginality to find sexual or emotional satisfaction, and the knowledge of one's own social divergence, all of which have an enormous influence on any artist's work. With this new and updated translation, this work offers English–speaking readers the opportunity to focus on formal aspects of literary expressions of homosexuality. € 31,90
