Non ci si meraviglia della crescita statistica delle depressioni post-partum, dei casi di rifiuto psicologico o fisico dei neonati da parte delle madri, delle crisi tra la donna e il suo partner che arrivano a conclusione (con una separazione o con un divorzio) generalmente un anno dopo la nascita di un figlio ma che si creano e affondano le radici nel periodo immediatamente seguente la nascita di questo, come effetto di un'elaborazione e una maturazione incompleta, di una depressione non veramente superata.
