![]() ![]() Author: Hammond Flora M. M.D. (EDT), Malec James F. Ph.D. (EDT), Nick Todd G. Ph.D. (EDT), Buschbacher Ralph M. M.D. (EDT) Publisher: Demos Medical Pub The majority of physicians are poorly knowledgeable about statistics and research design, yet are expected to do clinical research and write articles (if in academia) or, at the very least, to read the literature critically and provide evidence-based care to patients. The basic skills involved are touched on very minimally in residency, but not in enough depth for an untrained investigator to successfully design or conduct a study, or analyze research findings in any meaningful way. This volume is intended as a “quick fix”, allowing readers to look up information rapidly about various design types and statistical methods to see what the pros, cons, and indications for each are. Research implementation, including regulatory issues and grant writing, is also covered. The book is unique in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and with the increased emphasis on outcomes measurement and push toward a national agenda for disability research, will appeal both to investigators planning and executing studies and clinicians looking to better understand how the findings impact their practice. A list of topics with an outline of headings for each of the sections is attached. € 82,80

![]() ![]() Author: Flora James (CRT) Publisher: Enchanted Lion Books The day before Christmas, Kathryn's present from Uncle Dingo arrives in a big box. Naturally, it's a lively kangaroo. Kathryn can't wait to show grandma, so she hops onto Adelaide's back and off they go! But getting to Grandma's proves more difficult than expected. Honking horns and screeching breaks frighten Adelaide into taking off on her own. In good Flora fashion, chaos and pure silliness ensue. When Kathryn and Adelaide finally arrive at Grandma's house, a very cool and collected Grandma sees there's nothing to be done but to get them home as swiftly as possible. A rumpus of a read, Kangaroo for Christmas is a merry Christmas tall tale full of witty illustrations that are sure to draw laughs and hoots of pleasure. James Flora (1914?1998) was a famous commercial artist from the 1940s through the 1980s. He wrote and illustrated seventeen picture books. This is the second Flora title to be brought back into print by Enchanted Lion Books. The first, published in 2010, was the 1957 book The Day the Cow Sneezed. € 15,90

![]() ![]() Author: Flora James Publisher: Orecchio Acerbo Che sarà mai uno starnuto? € 16,00

![]() ![]() Author: Flora James Publisher: Enchanted Lion Books "I bet your cow never sneezed a hole in the schoolhouse wall. Our cow did!" Thus begins is one of the funniest, fastest-paced, tallest-tale stories ever told! The fun mounts as absurdity cascades on absurdity, until at the very end one small boy learns that a "teeny-weeny error can grow into a whopping big mistake almost before you can say Ka-Chow!" With brilliantly colored, bold and original pictures and a sure use of words that sweep the reader along, James Flora has created a hilariously wise picture book that will bring delighted laughter to the young of any age! James ("Jim") Flora worked as a commercial artist from the 1940s through the 1980s. He enjoyed a lengthy career, was a lifelong fan of jazz and classical music, and was renowned for creating wild illustrations for Columbia and RCA Victor records in the 1940s and '50s. He also created seventeen books for young readers. The Day the Cow Sneezed, his second book, was first published in 1957. Despite long-standing interest, this is the first time the book has been reprinted. Flora was born in the small town of Bellefontaine, Ohio, in 1914. He attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where he met his future wife, artist Jane Sinnicksen. The Floras moved to Connecticut in 1942 when Jim accepted a job at Columbia Records. Flora and Jane went on to have five children. It was after their first child was born that Flora started to create children's books. Flora passed away at his home in Rowayton, Connecticut, in 1998. € 16,50
