Persino peggiore delle lunghe settimane di isolamento, al buio, leggendo e rileggendo Guerra e Pace (in braille). Peggiore del rancio della prigione, causa di innumerevoli rivolte. Peggiore del dottore che ti visita meticolosamente prima dell'esecuzione della sentenza di morte. Tutto ciò è infatti poca cosa in confronto a Montecristo! Lui è sempre là, pronto a ricordarti, nelle ore più disperate, tutto quello che un condannato cerca di dimenticare. Black humor senza tregua e 'squisito' cinismo degno del miglior Arkas. Si salvi chi può!

Amore, gentilezza, compassione, altruismo: egli ha tutto ciò e tanto altro da dare... e il tutto a prezzi più che ragionevoli! Montecristo nel settore è certamente lo spacciatore di sentimenti e 'suoi accessori' più popolare del carcere. In questo quarto volume della serie, Montecristo farà tutto quel che è in suo potere per provare scientificamente gli effetti nocivi dell'integrità morale... e vi riuscirà così bene da far sentire il nostro ergastolano colpevole della sua stessa innocenza! E ancora rivedremo personaggi come il cuoco, la guardia, il dottore, il torturato, il 'cornificato' e la sua attivissima metà, lo sterminatore, lo sguattero, il prete, il comandante del plotone d'esecuzione e, come dice, il condannato a morte in cammino verso l'esecuzione, 'un giorno ricorderemo tutto questo e ci faremo una bella risata'!

Nella vita non ci sono solo disgrazie, difficoltà familiari e guai con la legge, non c'è solo il problema di come sbarcare il lunario o di come crescere i figli. C'è l'amore e c'è il sesso, e la vita diventa piena di opportunità di gioco. In questo volume, tra elefanti, leoni, conigli, coccodrilli, uccelli e tanti altri protagonisti, Arkas tira fuori l'animale che è nei lettori.

Dopo 'Per due o più giocatori' ritornano gli 'animali' di Arkas. Elefanti e topi, leoni e gazzelle, e ancora conigli, coccodrilli, giraffe, ippopotami, struzzi, serpenti, leopardi, farfalle, pappagalli e rinoceronti. Le combinazioni sono infinite nel gioco più versatile dell'universo e Arkas non perde occasione per puntare l'attenzione sugli aspetti più critici e pungenti dei rapporti a due e (soprattutto) a più giocatori!

Se fosse vissuto in un'altra epoca, sarebbe stato uno schiavo ai remi di una galea o alla costruzione delle piramidi. Se fosse nato scimmia, le altre scimmie gli avrebbero rubato le sue banane. Ovviamente parliamo del nostro ergastolano, l'eterna vittima designata. Cerca di fare amicizia e gli rompono gli occhiali. Evade ma non c'è bisogno di cercarlo (troverà da solo la strada per tornare). E quando decide di fare uno sciopero della fame e 'morire piuttosto che mangiare' probabilmente ha ancora preso la decisione sbagliata: come suggerisce il cuoco stesso, 'con il rancio della prigione una cosa non esclude l'altra'. Ma se qualcosa dovesse ancora andare storto c'è sempre il dottore della prigione il quale assicura (o minaccia?) che non lascerà morire nessuno così facilmente...

In questo quinto albo di 'Voli Radenti', infatti, decide di rifarsi una vita, trovare una nuova compagna, di non morire un giorno, da solo. Tuttavia ha fatto i conti senza l'oste. La sua terribile prole gli dimostra chiaramente che non sarà disposto ad accettare estranei in famiglia... Allo stesso tempo però gli assicura che non lo lascerà morire da solo ma che, anzi, lo aiuterà egli stesso! Famoso in patria e figura mitologica in Europa: di Arkas i fan conoscono davvero poco. È greco, forse di Atene di cui, proprio nella sua serie dedicata agli 'uccellini', riproduce con dovizia i particolari urbani più caratteristici e, spesso, nascosti.
