And so begins an adventure where the two men, accompanied by their guide Hans Bjelke, set out to climb Mount Sneffels. On reaching the top of the mountain, they search for the crater that will supposedly take them to the centre of the Earth. The promise of finding a subterranean fantasy world, filled with prehistoric life forms and mythical monsters, drives them on. Will they really reach the centre of the Earth, or is it all a myth?

Published in 1870, originally in French, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a classic example of the imagination and foresight of Jules Verne. His pioneering approach to writing in the late 19th century led many to refer to him as the father of science fiction.

Il giro del mondo in ottanta giorni' (titolo originale Le Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours) è uno dei romanzi di avventura più famosi e celebrati al mondo, pubblicato a puntate sul quotidiano 'Le temps' nel corso dell'anno 1872 e poi raccolto in volume l'anno successivo. La storia, ambientata nello stesso anno, narra del ricco inglese Fogg, solito frequentatore del Reform Club di Londra, dove un giorno si accende una discussione in merito ad un articolo riguardante la costruzione di una nuova linea ferroviaria in India. Il giornale dice che sarebbe possibile a quella velocità effettuare il giro del mondo in 80 giorni. Tutti mettono in dubbio la possibilità, ma il protagonista decide di scommettere una grossa somma di denaro: entro quel lasso di tempo Fogg ed il suo servo Passepartout dovranno essere di ritorno al club dopo aver girato il mondo. Dall'Italia agli Stati Uniti, passando per Egitto e Giappone i due vivranno delle rocambolesche avventure, piene di colpi di scena che terranno incollati i lettori, più o meno grandi, fino all'epico finale.
