For the Love of Creation
Book (italiano):
This publication chronicles the 50 year career of one of Canada's most accomplished sculptors. The work of Eva Stubbs incorporates a wide range of sculptural media, including bronze, plaster, wood, stone, and clay, as well as drawings in charcoal, ink, and oil stick. The human form serves as her basis for a meditation on themes such as historical memory, the desire for intimacy, and the precariousness of existence. While figurative and metaphorical, her works develop themes ranging from feminist to technological issues, to an interest in the forms of ancient civilizations and their place in history. Essays from several viewpoints outline Stubbs' immigrant experience, artistic studies, and her mature studio practice and exhibition history.
