Spoken Cree
Book (italiano):
Ellis (linguistics and applied language studies, Carleton U., Ottawa) presents a revised edition of the intermediate volume of his three-level Cree language course, originally released in 1963. Building on the fundamentals covered in Spoken Cree, Level I, the text explores the language in the cultural context of a typical northern Cree village. Coverage includes more complex grammatical concepts, including modes, tenses and submodes of the conjunct order; more advanced processes of composition and derivation; and the various forms of the preterit, both independent and conjunct. Extensive use of the syllabary is introduced, with exercises in syllabic writing. The second-level text no longer contains the full glossary; a glossary for all three levels will be appended to Spoken Cree, Level III. Distributed by Michigan State U. Press.
