A Dictionary of Folklore

This dictionary contains some thousand entries ranging from a couple of lines to a page in A-Z arrangement with "see" and "see also" references but lacking either and index or literature citations. Topics include folk tales, festivals customs, heroes, creatures, remedies. It is particularly galling in a dictionary on an oral traditon to find no pronunciation (owing, we suspect, to sloth: the sources from which dictionaries are compiled lack it and the research necessary would be laborious).
