Britton on Film
Book (italiano):
The film writings of Andrew Britton have previously been scattered among back issues of various publications. Grant (film studies and popular culture, Brock University, Ontario)has gathered them into this edition, arranged loosely by topic. Loosely because in every essay Britton drew together the most disparate films, Meet Me in St. Louis with tinges of Psycho, for example. His topics range from a reevaluation of Cary Grant and Bette Davis, to analyses of individual films, both American and foreign. The final section contains Britton's essays on theories of film criticism, which did not endear him to academic theorists. His reaction to postmodernism is worth the price of the book alone.
