Book (italiano):
Anderson, Magne Njastad, Astrid Wale (all history and classical studies, Norwegian U. of Science and Technology), and Brita Brenna (culture studies and Oriental languages, U. of Oslo) celebrate the 250th anniversary of Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskab by outlining its history and accomplishments in a language widely understood in the international science and history of science communities. Founded by three natural historians and philosophers who gathered in the then small town of Trondheim, they say, the organization soon grew in size and reputation to become one of the centers of the Scandinavian Enlightenment. The chapters describe such events and trends and science and sociability, new directions 1850-70, the golden age of museums, and the museum becomes part of the University of Trondheim.
