The Five Senses
Book (italiano):
Cowley and Sankey (U. of Sydney) offer a translation of Michel Serres' The Five Senses. Serres, now a professor of the history of science at Stanford University, wrote the piece in 1985 when he was relatively unknown, even in his native France. Serres' writing is a minefield for translators: examples would be his tendency to bend the accepted definitions and uses of words as needed to communicate his thoughts more directly, and to use elements of Greek and Latin in his texts. The writing, at once enigmatic and graceful, has been treated by the translators (with Serres' assistance) with respect and an eye for detail.
