Diversities in Early Childhood Education
Book (italiano):
Thirty academics, researchers, and early childhood education professionals from the U.S. and Australia contribute 17 chapters rethinking diversity in order to move more effectively and sincerely towards social justice for young children and their families. Included are examples of educators who are enacting equitable and inclusive practices that promote social justice in settings for young children, teacher education, and policy. Coverage includes rethinking identities of children in transformed curricular contexts, and challenging commonplace definitions of growth, development, and learning; reanalyzing the key roles of families and communities, policies and policymakers, and state and governmental mandates and agencies; and reexamining teacher preparation and professional development through multicultural lenses in order to assess teachers' cultural knowledge and the potential impact of what teachers know--or don't--about their practice, instructional priorities, and pedagogical decision making. For preservice and practicing early childhood educators. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
