Cognitive Neuroscience
Book (italiano):
This is the fourth edition of a textbook on cognitive neuroscience from W. W. Norton. It is designed as an introductory text for a one-semester survey of a specialized field, and so will be most suitable for upper-division majors in fields like psychology, and lower-division students in fields such as nursing, medicine, and clinical social work. The text is well-written in an accessible style. In some sections the research described is that of one of the editors. Patient case studies are frequently used. The book encourages students to consider the convergence of evidence rather than relying on one particular means of proof such as computational analysis or cognitive psychology. It has a strongly narrative approach that makes for easy reading and will be very suitable to students working toward clinical practice. The new edition adds a chapter on legal and ethical considerations, and one on consciousness. New studies have been integrated throughout, the illustrations redrawn, summaries of key points have been moved from the end of each chapter and put within the text, and the separate chapter on evolution removed and its information on evolutionary perspectives integrated throughout the text. The new edition also provides PowerPoints for instructors, and testing and assessment information following Norton's guidelines. Oversize: 10 x 13.
