Lagomorphs, Mammals Of Russia And Adjacent Regions
Book (italiano):
This monograph, part of the Mammals of the Soviet Union (begun in 1961), provides information on the systematics and biology of the region's lagomorphs (hares, rabbits, and pikas). The scheme of the previous volumes is maintained for descriptions of groups and species, e.g. the order of inclusion corresponds to increasing specialization. Entries provide descriptions and discuss systematic position, geographic distribution, geographic variation, habitats, population, shelters, feeding, activity and behavior, area of habitation, reproduction, growth and development, sex and age composition of population, dynamics of population, predators, competitors, diseases and parasites, and practical significance. Palaeontological data on recent species and genera are limited to brief mentions. Range is given in generalized form for widely distributed species and all known points of occurrence are given for species with narrow ranges. Distributed in the US by Enfield.
