Bohlin Cywinski Jackson
Book (italiano):
One of the founders and principals Peter Bohlin received the 2010 AIA Gold Medal, but that's just one of many honors garnered by this architecture firm over the years. Founded in 1965, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the firm is renowned for its creative and sensitive design response to environmental demands, and this big book (9.5x13") showcases 20 projects. Abundant photos (many full page or bigger) display exteriors and interiors, and captions and brief text describe some of the challenges and solutions. Among the projects: the School of fisheries (U. of Washington), the Barn at Fallingwater, Pixar Animation Studios, Apple Store Fifth Avenue, Seattle City Hall, and Grand Teton Discovery and Visitor Center. Five essays by fellow architects discuss the firm's sustainable architecture, construction of creekside houses, and fundamental facets of the firm's approach.
