In Operation Totalize, Lieutenant­General Guy Simonds's II Canadian Corps launched an attack from its positions along the Bourgue´bus Ridge, south of Caen, striking south­southeast astride the main Caen-Ealaise road toward the high ground that dominated the town of Ealaise and the key west-east lateral road that ran through this town. Using sophisticated operational art, the initial break-in achieved rapid success; indeed, more tactical success than any previous Allied break-in attack in Normandy.
However, despite this rapid initial success, Totalize did not secure a decisive operational­level victory. Indeed, Simonds' forces subsequently struggled to swiftly complete the second break-in battle, and to transit into rapid exploitation operations. Had Simonds's forces been successful, the German army may not have been able to extract themselves from the Falaise pocket, and would have been surrounded and defeated--possibly bringing about the early end of the war in Europe.

The Wizard of Id deals with the goings-on of the run-down, oppressed Kingdom of Id. It follows characters from all corners of the kingdom, but concentrates on the court of a tyrannical dwarf-sized monarch, known only as "the King", his wizard, Wiz, his chief knight Sir Rodney, Bung the Jester and many, many others!

Legendary cartoonist, Johnny Hart, created two of the most popular comic strips in history: B.C. and Wizard of Id.  When he became a Christian in 1984, Johnny turned his trademark wit and humor to matters of faith.  Johnny passed away the day before Easter 2007 while at his drawing board.  'This book is a dream that Johnny and I shared,' says his wife, Bobby. 'I knew I had to finish our dream.'

Nato nel 1931, Johnny Hart ha sempre disegnato 'cose buffe, le quali o mi mettevano nei guai o mi ci toglievano, a seconda delle circostanze'. All'età di 19 anni incontrò Brant Parker, un giovane cartoonist che fu la sua prima influenza artistica e che più tardi divenne suo partner nella striscia 'Il mago Wiz'. Ottenuto un 'vero lavoro' alla General Electric, continuava a leggere 'Peanuts': il lavoro di Schulz lo spinse a tentare di creare una propria striscia. 'In quel periodo, non saprei dirvi perché le battute coi cavernicoli erano un'ossessione generale. Una notte iniziai a disegnare questi piccoli uomini delle caverne e decisi di dare loro nomi e caratteristiche basati su amici e familiari. Dopo il quinto rifiuto, pensai di gettare B.C. nella spazzatura. Ma subito cercai l'indirizzo del New York Herald Tribune, ci andai e lo gettai sulla scrivania di Harry Welker. Harry che quattro anni prima aveva rifiutato una striscia chiamata Peanuts, decise di darmi una possibilità. Ed ecco che nel 1958, nasceva B.C.'. Questo albo è una raccolta cui lo stesso Hart ha lavorato fino alla sua morte - delle più significative strisce della serie, a cinquant'anni dall'esordio.
