Il manuale intende analizzare i rischi derivanti dai cosiddetti 'agenti fisici', caratterizzati da interazioni energetiche del lavoratore con l'ambiente di lavoro. Il testo esamina i rischi da esposizione a campi elettromagnetici, radiazioni ottiche artificiali, microclima e atmosfere iperbariche, approfondendo tematiche legate a tutti gli agenti fisici individuati dal Testo Unico. Dopo una presentazione dell'inquadramento normativo, con riferimento sia agli ambienti di vita che di lavoro, l'agente fisico viene esaminato secondo un percorso che va dall'illustrazione delle interazioni fisiche con i lavoratori esposti fino alle tecniche di identificazione dei fattori di rischio, di valutazione dei rischi e di definizione delle misure di prevenzione e protezione. Ampio spazio è riservato alle tecniche di misura secondo le recenti norme CEI ed UNI ed alla definizione delle caratteristiche della strumentazione e delle modalità di stima della incertezza di misura. Sono altresì fornite indicazioni per la valutazione dei rischi senza misurazioni, da effettuarsi come valutazione preliminare in ambienti a limitata esposizione. In appendice a ciascuna sezione, un glossario e una sinossi delle disposizioni legislative (anche esterne al Testo Unico) agevolano la lettura, completa degli obblighi relativi a tutti gli agenti fisici.
