Researching the Military
Book (italiano):
<p><em>Researching the Military</em> aims to contribute to a greater reflexivity in the field of military studies, by focusing on the experiences of researchers who study the military around the world.<b></b></p><p>The book goes beyond a strict focus on methods and techniques, to concentrate on (a) the factors that condition and frame research at the various levels of institutions, processes and actors, and (b) scrutinize the way knowledge in this area impacts society, namely political options on defence and security-related areas. More than merely collecting research experiences (yet necessarily including them), it is also about the experiences of researchers, their position with regard to the object of their studies, the institutional context where they work and the way their research impacts the academic and policy making fields in the respective countries. The chapters develop around three main analytical dimensions: institutions, processes, and actors, and the authors come from all over the world, including areas that are usually underrepresented in the field of military studies, namely Latin-America.</p><p>This book will be of much interest to students of military studies, research methods, social anthropology and security studies, in general.</p><p></p><b><p> </p></b>
