The poems of Ignacio Ruiz-PŽrez, available in the U.S for the first time in this volume, are suffused with color and a textural music reminiscent of the work of Raphael Alberti, Pablo Neruda, Luis Cernuda, and all the great Spanish language poets of the twentieth century. They are filled with light and with the lovely dark of the magical.<p><b>Ignacio Ruiz-PŽrez</b> was born in Chiapas, Mexico, in 1976. He is the author of three books of poetry: <i>La canci--n del desterrado</i> (2004), <i>Navegaciones</i> (Regional Poetry Prize "Rodulfo Figueroa" 2005), and <i>Deslizamientos</i> (National Prize of Youth Poetry "Salvador Gallardo Davalos" 2006). He is also the author of books of essays. His poetry and nonfiction have appeared in publications throughout Latin America, including <i>Tierra Adentro, Punto de Partida, Critica, La Nave, Revista de Literatura Mexicana Contemporanea, Revista Hispanica Moderna</i>, and <i>Bulletin of Hispanic Studies.</i>
