A Transportation Archive from Fourth-century Oxyrhynchus
Book (italiano):
This volume publishes 27 Greek papyri from the University of Michigan Papyrus Collection dealing with the transport of grain as payment of taxes from Oxyrhynchus to Alexandria or Pelusium, Egypt. Papyrologist Worp (emeritus, Leiden University), who took over as editor of the texts from the late Prof. Sijpesteijn, provides a general introduction to the process of grain transport during the reign of Roman emperor Augustus. Each text is presented with an introduction, the Greek text, English translation, and explanatory notes. The volume includes appended miscellaneous texts, and indexing by consulates and postconsulates, months and days, topographical indications, personal and geographical names.
