Orange Girl

Georg Roed, aged fifteen, tells us that his father died eleven years ago when he was four. He had never expected to hear from his dad again, but now they are writing a book together, from the family home in Humleveien in present-day Oslo. Pictures, furniture and old videos remind Georg of his father and, in a way, he's still there. Georg is writing now because his grandmother found a letter addressed to him in the lining of his old buggy. Georg's father had hidden it there as a 'letter to the future', which allows Georg to get to know him in a way he couldn't eleven years ago.<BR>The person who figures most in the letter is not actually Georg's father; it is the mysterious and beautiful Orange Girl, whose identity Georg tries to discover. But he is especially struck by his dad's curiosity about the Hubble Space Telescope and whether it has revealed any more secrets of the universe. Georg understands that, by picking up the light from distant stars, the telescope actually looks back into the past.
