The Stromboli Volcano
Book (italiano):
The Stromboli volcano, located on the northernmost of Italy's Aeolian Islands, has a long history of volcanic activity and has long been a subject of study by volcanologists, geologists, and others in earth sciences fields. This book recounts a study that took place on the volcano between December 2002 and July 2003. The study used an integrative approach and monitored eruptive activity, including lava flow output, explosive activity, flank instability, submarine and subaerial landslides, tsunami, and mitigation strategies. Numerous photographs, graphs, and illustrations are included. A DVD also included, which includes more photos and a video of Stromboli's activity. The book will interest both scientists and students as well as general readers. Editors are Calvari, Inguaggiato, and Puglisi (Instituto Nazionale di Geofisica Vulcanologia, Italy), Ripepe (U. of Firenze, Italy), and Rose (U. of Pisa, Italy).
