The Conflict of Interpretations
Book (italiano):
This title is one of several by Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) being reissued by Northwestern U. Press. In a new foreword, Bernard Dauenhauer (emeritus, philosophy, U. of Georgia) introduces central themes of Ricoeur's The Conflict of Interpretations (1974): the relationship between philosophy and other disciplines, understanding the self, and the problem of evil. Idhe (philosophy, Stony Brook U.) introduces 22 essays--many appearing in English for the first time--critiquing his phenomenological description with hermeneutic interpretation. Originally published in French under the title Le Confit des interprétations: Essais d'hèrmèneutique in 1969 by Les Editions du Seuil. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
