Spanish Mustangs in the Great American West
Book (italiano):
Hockensmith is a Kentucky-based photographer who focuses his lens on the Kentucky Derby and exotic breeds of horses. Here he intersperses photos with a narrative that begins with prehistory and then turns to horses of conquistadors, plains Indians, explorers, and cowboys. His narrative continues with the 20th-century horse, and the epilogue looks at Spanish mustangs. The concluding portfolio of photographs occupies 80 pages and contains minimal test (some Native American wisdom and some poems and writings by the author); it represents work presented in an exhibition at the Headley-Whitney Museum, August 2009. The volume is oversize (9.5x12") allowing for generous display of the images. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
