Wu is director of the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History (U. of San Francisco) updates and expands his 1989 reference mostly to records of missions in China but also other material in public, academic, and church repositories in the US. It lists relevant holdings in 554 libraries, archives, historical societies, religious orders, and denominational headquarters. For each, contact information is provided, including web sites where available, and names of officials to address. The arrangement is geographical, alphabetical by state, by town or other location within the state, by institution, and finally by the library or collection. Indexes are by subject, personal name, and repository. The information was requested by letter, and followed up by telephone or personal visit if necessary.
